Here we have a 19th century French brass and chinoiserie encrier desk stand by Delarue Paris including inkwells and desk blotter
The underside of this piece is marked 'DELARUE PARIS 108 Vieille du temple Paris 445 BDS'
It is rare to have the blotter with these sets as they often get separated
Chinoiserie is the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and other East Asian artistic traditions, especially in the decorative arts, garden design, architecture, literature and theatre as is this piece.
You can see what the original colour was (and could be) from the base and inside the wells - a rich almost gilt bronze
We have left the piece unpolished to retain the original antique patina
There is one of the glass inserts missing to one of the inkwells aside from that this set is in fabulous antique condition
