Here we have a boxed cigarette case by Stratton of Mayfair with flying ducks over reads in a soft case 8cm wide

These are generally used now to hold business cards as smoking becomes socially more unacceptable

This cigarette case face is in excellent condition, inside there is a clear Stratton mark on the arm

The rear has a all over striped design engine turned face which dates it to 1953-54 and a sure sign of quality. The thumb twist catch works perfectly

Stratton is a brand of powder compacts, lipstick holders and other devices and containers for cosmetics, made in Birmingham, England. the company also made costume jewellery.

The parent company was founded in 1860 as Stratnoid, and initially made knitting needles. It changed its name to Stratton and in 1920, merged with Jarrett and Rainsford, to form a company named Jarrett, Rainsford and Laughton Ltd., trading as Stratton and as Stratton of Mayfair.
