A finely hand-carved antique Chinese cinnabar lacquer vase dating from the late Qing to early Republic period (circa 1880–1930). Standing 25cm tall, this striking piece is decorated with intricate scenes of scholars and attendants set within a detailed mountain and garden landscape.
The vase features layers of rich red lacquer carved in relief over a black lacquer base, with geometric diaper patterns adding depth and texture to the background. The neck is adorned with auspicious motifs including flowers and fruit, while the top and base are finished with traditional brass rims.
This example shows signs of age, with some small areas of wear and losses to the lacquer, consistent with a piece of this age. These details add character and authenticity, making it a desirable decorative and collectible item for lovers of Chinese antiques.
