Here we have a hand made Persian/Indian Papier-mch box and cover 9x7x4cm
This box depicts a young scholar in a praying pose -the box has some paint loss as per the images but overall a lovely working piece.
Papier-mch , frequently miswritten as paper mache, is a composite material consisting of paper pieces or pulp, sometimes reinforced with textiles, and bound with an adhesive, such as glue, starch, or wallpaper paste.
Papier-mch sculptures are used as an economical building material for a variety of traditional and ceremonial activities, as well as in arts and crafts like this piece.
