This piece is a hand turned and hand painted figure of an Aunt Sally, made by Michael Powell in 1984.
I can't begin to tell you how much I Iove this piece. This is why I trawl Antique shops and markets for good quality, fun, interesting folk art pieces.
This piece has a few knocks and paint deterioration in places (see photos) but I don't think it has been used as an Aunt Sally or it would be very battered, so it appears to have been perhaps made for a loved one as a gift, we will never know and that is part of its mystery and charm I suppose.
