A superb Edwardian solid silver sugar bowl, fully hallmarked for London, 1909, with the maker’s mark SG for Sebastian Henry Garrard, of R & S Garrard & Co, the royal jewellers.

This substantial bowl weighs 316 grams and measures 17 cm wide across the handles. The design features twin scroll handles in an almost Art Nouveau style, decorative strapwork ornament around the body, and stands on a raised circular foot. The interior retains its original gilding, adding to both beauty and practicality.
The bowl is engraved with the pattern number L227 and “3 PIECES”, showing it was originally part of a fine silver service.
Garrard pieces of this era were known for their exceptional weight and quality, often commissioned by prestigious clients.
Garrard were the official Crown Jewellers, responsible for creating and maintaining the British Crown Jewels from 1843 to 2007, and their antique silver remains highly prized.
