A striking large ruby red art glass vase, attributed to Whitefriars Glass, England, and dating to the 1960s. This sculptural design, often referred to as the “Nobbly” vase, features a bold organic texture with heavy molten-style surface patterning, catching and distorting the light beautifully.
The vase is hand-blown in a deep ruby red colour, one of Whitefriars’ most sought-after tones of the period. Its impressive size and weight — standing 24 cm tall and weighing approximately 4 kg — make it a true statement piece of mid-century modern design.
Whitefriars rarely signed their glass, so this vase is unsigned to the base, as expected. The polished base shows appropriate age-related wear.
Condition: very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks, only light wear from age and use.
Dimensions: 24 cm tall, 4 kg weight.
A fine example of mid-20th-century British art glass, highly collectible and ideal for display in a modernist or retro interior.
