Here we have a large weighty hobnail cut glass inkwell on circular wooden stand 21cm diameter base c 1870
The inkwell top has a brass collar and matching hobnail cut base to the ink cannister
The main ink well has a hobnail cut base that gives a really nice high end look to what would have been an ordinary plain glass well. The top needs to be adhered to the well but is definitely the original one
The wooden base looks to be mahogany and the overall weight is 1.23kg - quite a reassuring stability to this when it was used with a dip pen back in the day
There are signs of ware to the wood as to be expected and can be see from the detailed images , the glass is in good condition but there are some nibbles to the glass well collar (see close up images )
