Here we have a dusky pink glazed military mug in the form of a Bruce Bairnsfather's Old Bill, 11.5cm high

Old Bill is a fictional character created in 191415 by cartoonist Bruce Bairnsfather. Old Bill was depicted as an elderly, pipe-smoking British "tommy" with a walrus moustache. The character achieved a great deal of popularity during World War I where it was considered a major morale booster for the British troops.
The mug shows signs of being lovingly used, a chip at the rear (see images) doesn't detract from the weird beauty of this piece - I love it but don't know why!
We believe this to be quite a rare mug, we found it difficult to find may more - none of which show this original colouring
