Antique 1901 novel, The Eternal City, written by the celebrated Manx author Sir Hall Caine and published in London by William Heinemann.

This substantial and highly collectible volume measures 20 cm by 13.5 cm and stands at a thick 5.5 cm deep. It is an early printing, carrying the publisher's formal certification statement on the copyright page confirming it as part of the first printing run of 100,000 copies produced by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co. The red cloth hardcover binding features an embossed grid-and-floral motif with stamped lettering, and the front flyleaf carries a wonderful handwritten gift inscription reading "A. Wright, Xmas 1901". Listing notable works by the author—including The Bondman, The Scapegoat, The Manxman, and The Christian—this is a classic piece of Edwardian literature.
