A characterful mid-20th-century cast brass model of a Supermarine Spitfire, mounted on its original starburst brass base and marked BRITISH MADE BRASS beneath.
These small-format aviation models were produced in Britain in the years following the Second World War, often sold as souvenir pieces or kept on desks as symbols of the era’s engineering achievement.
This example has a pleasingly honest finish with signs of hand-finishing to the casting, a free-spinning propeller, and a warm patination developed over decades. The aircraft is modelled in simplified form, typical of the period, yet retains the distinctive elliptical wing profile and tail shape that mark out the iconic Spitfire silhouette.
A tactile and displayable vintage piece of aviation history.
