A remarkable assembled collection of antique British drafting, surveying and engineering rulers housed within a handsome early 20th-century mahogany instrument case. This curated set includes engine-divided and precision-divided scales, scarce advertising rules and architect’s conversion rulers, drawn from respected makers such as Aston & Mander (1917), Stanley London, Lawrence & Mayo, Armstrong, and trade branded examples including Magnet Joinery, Bingley and the desirable Kiwi Shoe Polish “A Good Foot Rule”.

The rulers span multiple specialisms: metric and imperial conversion scales, 1:1000 and 1:1250 engineering rules, architect’s scales, surveyor’s foot rules, celluloid drafting rules, wooden mahogany and boxwood measures, and precision scales marked Engine Divided or Precision Divided. Early celluloid and printed composite examples sit alongside beautifully engraved hardwood rulers with fine, crisp divisions.

The mahogany case itself is fitted with stepped compartments and a velvet-lined upper section, originally designed for a full drafting or instrument set. The warm, well-handled patina of the box complements the rulers perfectly, creating an impressive visual and historical archive of British technical craftsmanship from the early 20th century to the mid-century drafting office.

A superb decorator’s set, educational reference collection or ready-made display for a design studio, architect’s office or collector of engineering heritage.
