A small 19th-century Chinese export porcelain mug decorated in the Imari palette, painted by hand with a continuous riverside landscape in underglaze cobalt blue with iron-red and gilt highlights. Figures, mountains and foliage are rendered in the typical late Qing style, with a stylised geometric border around the rim.
The mug is wheel-thrown with a neatly formed handle and has a smooth pale celadon-toned glaze internally. The base shows expected concentric turning marks and kiln grit from firing. These small mugs were commonly produced for export markets and often used as children’s mugs or for measuring small quantities.
A genuine 19th-century example with clear hand-painted work and original surface.
