A beautifully weathered early 20th-century Dutch copper ship’s lantern, complete with its original curved red and blue glass lenses and the distinctive brass ‘TWEEKLEUR’ nameplate.
These dual-colour lanterns were traditionally mounted on smaller vessels to display both port (red) and starboard (blue/green) signals from a single housing — an elegant and space-efficient maritime lighting solution.
Crafted in heavy hand-formed copper with riveted and soldered construction, this example has survived with superb character. The hinged rear access door opens smoothly, revealing the original burner compartment and vented base. A flared chimney cap and sturdy side mounting loops complete the piece, all enriched by decades of sea-air patina.
At 24cm tall, it makes a striking decorative accent for coastal homes, collectors of marine antiques, or interiors styled with old-world nautical charm.

Condition
The lantern shows age-expected surface wear, oxidation and patination throughout, consistent with genuine maritime service. Copper surfaces display green and blue verdigris, minor dents, and oxidised solder seams. The glass lenses remain intact. The internal burner is no longer present. A wonderfully honest and atmospheric example.
