A beautifully modelled Royal Doulton character jug depicting the ‘Ugly Duchess’, model D6599, first issued in 1964. This large mid-century jug is based on John Tenniel’s famous illustration for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, featuring the Duchess’s distinctive ruffled headdress and a flamingo forming the handle.
The base bears the full factory backstamp COPR 1964 / Rd No 593/64, confirming this is an early, first-issue production example from the initial release period. Hand-painted with rich glaze tones and crisp moulding, the jug displays excellent colour and detail.
