A finely hand-modelled Poole Pottery stoneware bird, produced in England during the 1970s–1980s period of the studio’s wildlife range. This 13cm example features crisp feather detailing, soft naturalistic colouring and a well-balanced form, perched on a textured base with stylised leaf decoration.

Stamped Poole England to the underside, with an incised SA mark attributed to Sheila Axten, one of the known Poole decorators working on stoneware figures during this era. Each animal in the range was individually finished, giving every piece slight variations in tone and detail.

A strong display piece for collectors of British studio pottery, Poole stoneware or naturalistic wildlife figures.
