Antique French Brass and Ebonised Wood Crucifix – Cast Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart Motifs (c.19th Century)

A 19th-century French wall crucifix constructed in ebonised wood with a brass outer frame, fitted with a cast brass corpus and devotional emblems. The cross has brass terminals and small fixing pins typical of period French workshop manufacture.

The centre is decorated with a pierced Sacred Heart motif, and above the corpus is an applied brass INRI scroll and radiant sunburst. The corpus itself is well-modelled with pronounced detailing to the anatomy and drapery. The piece hangs from its original brass suspension loop.

A solid, honest example of a devotional crucifix from the late 1800s, showing age-appropriate wear and retaining its original fittings.
