A striking and atmospheric Art Deco figural clock, modelled as a stylised dancing girl poised mid-step with a dramatic crescent moon–shaped skirt, holding aloft a circular drum clock. The figure is cast in a silvered-metal alloy with an ebonised base, displaying classic 1930s design cues — sculptural boots, angular hat, and an elegant theatrical pose full of movement and charm.
The clock itself is a genuine early–mid 20th-century German FMS Mauthe movement, housed within the drum. The dial bears the Mauthe eagle emblem with the ‘FMS’ monogram worked discreetly into the central roundel — the abbreviation for Friedrich Mauthe, Schwenningen, a major German clockmaker active from the 19th century through the 1940s. This emblem type was in use during the 1930s–40s, perfectly aligning with the styling of the figure.
The internal mechanism is a spring-driven movement typical of Mauthe’s compact desk and novelty clocks of the period, and the clock is currently running, though it has not been tested for long-term accuracy. A handsome and sculptural piece with real presence — ideal as a collector’s item or a display centrepiece.

Condition
There are losses to the lacquer on the head and hat, together with areas of surface wear and patina across the figure. The ebonised base shows paint loss and rubbing consistent with age and handling. The clock is currently running but has not been assessed for long-term accuracy and may benefit from routine servicing. The dial clearly displays the FMS Mauthe eagle monogram, confirming the maker.
