Antique Hair-on-Hide Brass-Mounted Pocket Case – Leather Lined c.1900–1930

An early 20th-century rectangular pocket case covered in natural hair-on-hide, with a brass-coloured frame, sprung catch and leather-lined interior.

Its original purpose has not been confirmed. Its size and construction suggest that it may have held cards, cigarettes, cigarillos or another small personal item. It can now be used or displayed as an unusual antique case.

The exterior retains its distinctive black-and-cream hair covering. The brass-coloured catch operates correctly, and the hinged lid opens and closes securely.
