A rare and charming antique Japanese Kutani porcelain pig figurine, beautifully hand-painted in enamel with trailing vines, butterflies, and insects. This reclining pig is full of character and fine detail, with expressive features and delicate overglaze decoration in pink, green, and violet tones.
The base bears a red Kutani seal mark along with additional hand-painted Japanese characters, typical of Meiji period (c.1880–1900) Kutani porcelain.
Kutani animal figures of this type were made in Japan for the export market during the late 19th century, prized for their humour, artistry, and superb craftsmanship.
