A fine antique hammered metal bowl by John Round & Son Ltd, Sheffield, dating from around 1900–1915. This beautifully made footed bowl features a richly textured hammered finish, ornate cast scroll feet, and a pierced openwork rim in the Art Nouveau style.
The underside is stamped with the maker’s mark JR & S, together with a cross symbol, EPBM (Electro Plated Britannia Metal), and pattern number 14802/2. The mark can appear as “JR & SS” due to the deep strike, but it correctly reads JR & S for John Round & Son Ltd, a respected Sheffield silversmith and metalware manufacturer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Standing approximately 12.5 cm tall, this elegant piece would originally have been used as a rose bowl, sugar bowl, or small decorative centrepiece. Its softly aged patina and craftsmanship make it a superb display item for lovers of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts design.
