A finely modelled early 20th-century leather horse figure, dating to the 1920s and standing as a strong example of period decorative craftsmanship. The horse is fully leather clad over a sculpted core, with carefully stitched seams defining the musculature and form.
The figure retains its original leather tack, including bridle, saddle cloth and girth, with working metal stirrups in a brass or brass-alloy finish. The proportions and stance suggest this was intended as a decorative object rather than a toy, likely made for display in a study, library or gentleman’s interior.
The leather has developed a deep, natural patina with age, enhancing the sculptural quality and character of the piece. Objects of this type are increasingly difficult to find complete, particularly with original fittings intact.
A distinctive and tactile decorative sculpture, appealing to collectors of equestrian objects, early 20th-century interiors, and statement antique décor.
