A fine antique Sheffield fish serving set comprising a decorative EPNS knife and a sterling silver–mounted fork, each fitted with warm-toned ivorine (antique composite) handles. Both pieces carry sterling silver hallmarks on their ferrules for James Albert Scholes (J.A.S), together with the Sheffield crown, lion passant, and date letter D, corresponding to c.1900.
The knife blade features beautifully pierced and engraved foliate decoration, characteristic of late Victorian and early Edwardian craftsmanship. The ivorine handles retain their soft aged glow, offering tactile charm and classic period styling.
Presented in its original fitted case with red velvet and cream satin lining, the set displays exceptionally well. The cloth hinge of the box has perished with time — typical for its age — but the clasp remains working, and the interior retains its elegant presentation.
