Antique Staffordshire-style ceramic zebra figure, hand painted in black and white with linear striping and modelled standing on a green painted base. The figure follows the traditional English animal ornament form popular in the 19th century, often produced for mantel or shelf display.
The modelling is naïve and expressive, typical of Staffordshire animal figures of the period rather than later factory-refined ceramics. Decoration is hand applied, with visible brushwork and irregularities consistent with early production. The base is unmarked, as expected for this type of figure.
A characterful example of antique animal pottery, suitable for collectors of Staffordshire figures or traditional decorative ceramics.
