An early 20th-century Arts & Crafts movement vase or mantelpiece vessel, handcrafted in wood and pewter with inset green cabochon glass jewels.
This tall rectangular vase features repoussé pewter panels decorated with stylised foliate motifs, riveted to a stained oak body with a subtly arched base. The hand-worked metal and organic design reflect the ideals of the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, combining honest craftsmanship with naturalistic form.
Pieces like this were produced by artisan workshops and guilds such as the Keswick School of Industrial Art, Newlyn Industrial Class, and Liberty & Co.’s Tudric line, circa 1900–1920.
