German Art Nouveau Osiris pewter tray by Walter Scherf and co. designed by Friedrich Adler

This piece is a nice size and measures 40x27cm and is in great condition

Osiris Pewter refers to a range of decorative and functional items made from pewter, often designed in the Art Nouveau style.

Produced by the German company Walter Scherf and co. under the brand name Osiris in the late 19th and early 20th century

Osiris Pewter pieces are known for their intricate designs and craftsmanship, often featuring natural motifs and flowing lines typical of the Art Nouveau movement

Some of their notable designers were Friedrich Adler and Peter Behrens

Adler's wonderful work—designs for textiles, ivory carving, and leather goods, produced both by hand and industrially—began to appear in 1897 in art journals such as Kunst und Handwerk and Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration.

He provided designs for functional and decorative pewter to manufacturers including Orion and Walter Scherf & Co. (under the trademarks Isis and Osiris), Reinenmann, Lichtinger, and the Peter Bruckmann silver company.

Adler was also recognized for his furniture designs. His reputation was firmly established by virtue of receiving a commission to design the entrance hall of the Württemburg display for the international exposition of decorative art in Turin, 1902
