This asymmetric freeform bowl is finished in a striking mottled blue and plum glaze, with subtle variations that give depth and texture. A fine example of Nylund’s modernist design, the high-fired stoneware resonates with a clear ring when tapped, showing its quality.

Nylund was Rörstrand’s artistic director for much of the mid-20th century, and his organic forms and experimental glazes have become highly collectible worldwide. This sculptural bowl would make a standout piece for any Scandinavian modern collection, and also works beautifully as a decorative centrepiece in a contemporary home.
