A Kharal is a boat shaped bowl typically made from wood or stone, sometimes cladded with silver.

As part of Rajasthans traditional past, an opium drink was offered to guests and visitors. Kharal like these were used to crush opium to make the drink.
This one has hand carved stylised Rams heads at each end and ornate carving to the external face, heavily patinaed and a bit bruised from use, one ram has lost an ear/ horn and there are some minor splits to the wood - these are now used in homes for fruit/ bread bowls/ baskets
