A fine pair of vintage Jean Gerbino Vallauris vases, each signed to the base, dating to the mid-20th century.
Jean Gerbino (1876–1966), a master potter in Vallauris, pioneered the celebrated neriage or “terre mêlée” technique, where coloured clays are intricately combined to produce striking mosaic and marbled patterns.
These examples stand 14 cm tall and feature tessellated panels in blue, cream, russet and green, decorated with abstract floral and geometric motifs. The bold design reflects Gerbino’s trademark style and the experimental spirit of Vallauris studio pottery.
