While they are very close in size, they do not form an exact pair—one features a hinged lid while the other utilizes a lift-off lid style. Both boxes share a classic black Japanned-style lacquer finish, adorned with delicately hand-painted botanical daisy motifs and detailed butterfly artwork across their lids, indicating they were decorated by the same hand. Both interiors feature a striking, vibrant orange lacquered finish.
