A delightful pair of original hand-painted botanical studies depicting vibrant pansies, each signed by the artist L. D. Banks and presented in their original hardwood frames.
Beautifully painted with rich colour and fine detail, the flowers appear to have been painted onto ceramic or porcelain plaques (the exact material is unconfirmed) before being professionally mounted behind glass. Both retain their original hardwood frames, wooden mounts, traditional glazing pins and hanging chains, giving them an authentic vintage character.
The quality of both the artwork and framing suggests these were carefully crafted rather than mass-produced decorative pieces. Their original construction remains largely untouched, with the backing, hanging chains and glazing pins all intact, preserving their originality and charm.
Sold together as a matching pair, these elegant botanical plaques would make a wonderful addition to a country cottage, period home, conservatory or botanical art collection.
Dimensions (each)
- Height: 27 cm
- Width: 22 cm
- Frame depth: Approximately 1.4 cm
- They both weigh over 1.5kg together
Condition
Both plaques are in very good vintage condition. The artwork displays beautifully, with no visible cracks or chips to the painted plaques. The original hardwood frames show only light age-related wear consistent with their age. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
