A beautifully sculptural raku-fired studio pottery vase, signed to the base by Roy Fritchley, a potter associated with Rye Pottery (East Sussex) and later working in France. This example shows his hallmark form: a tall, tapering bottle silhouette with vertical ribbing and a striking turquoise crackle glaze, enriched with smoked and variegated raku surface effects.
The glaze presents rich tonal variation from teal to smoke-darkened olive, with a fine network of deliberate raku crazing throughout. The neck is unglazed externally, revealing the textured, naturally darkened clay body typical of his raku work. A highly characteristic and decorative example from a potter whose pieces are gaining increased collector interest.
