Trish Philips studio pottery bowls and plates all stamped to base with her recognisable 'T' mark
Bowls are approx. 16cm across but all are different and the plates 18cm in diameter - They are weighty and have a beautiful organic and minimalist feel to them
Trish Phillips studied ceramics at Harrow Art College during the time of such tutors as Mick Casson, Wally Keeler, Mo Jupp and Colin Pearson.
She was awarded a Crafts Council grant and set up a workshop in Devon making Salt Glazed stoneware and porcelain, combined with teaching part time in Somerset and London.
Whilst teaching on the Fine Art course at Sir John Cass Art College in London she studied for an M.A. in Art in Architecture and moved away from clay and worked in cast glass and other materials for many years.
She sees herself as a maker having an obsession with clay and the throwing process.
Recently, she has worked again in clay becoming interested in the momentum and tension that throwing alone, she feels, can impart to a lump of clay. Her distinctive pieces are created when the piece is off the wheel and soft, using parts of her own body to reform the shape.
Her pieces are high fired porcelain with a Dolomite glaze
No chips Cracks or restoration - There are a few marks to the pieces as you can see from the images
