A fine mid-20th century cameo glass vase signed VAL (Verreries d’Art Lorrain), crafted in the Lorraine region of France, famous for its association with Émile Gallé and the École de Nancy.
This striking vase is made with a glowing orange ground overlaid in deep red, acid-etched to reveal a grapevine and leaf motif, a classic Art Nouveau design.
The contrast of vibrant amber-orange and rich claret-red gives the piece a dramatic presence, particularly when placed in natural light.
The Verreries d’Art Lorrain workshops produced these vases from the 1950s onwards, continuing the cameo glass tradition pioneered in Nancy at the turn of the century. While not an original Gallé, pieces by VAL remain highly collectible and admired for their craftsmanship, decorative impact, and homage to the Art Nouveau style.
Condition: Good vintage condition with light surface wear and natural signs of age. No cracks or major flaws - just some very mild tiny nibbles at the rim see image
Dimensions: 27cm tall
A fine VAL cameo glass vase – ideal for collectors of French art glass, Art Nouveau revival works, or as a decorative feature in a vintage-inspired interior.
