This is a wonderful piece of everyday Victoriana - they were so flamboyant; taking the time and effort to decorate something that could be construed as mundane with such a lovely romantic painting
The concertinaed leather sides are intact - warn but intact which makes this a rarity and a survivor
Looking more closely at the painting under a lens you can see the detail of the painting and the reassuring crazing to the paint
The inner pouch is also survived and in warn but surprisingly good condition for its 130 years
