This vintage Akua'ba (Akuaba) fertility figure is a beautiful example of traditional Ashanti tribal art from Ghana, West Africa. Carved from wood, it features the classic flat, disc-like head, stylized facial features, and a simplified body — all symbolic elements rooted in Ashanti ideals of beauty, fertility, and spiritual protection.
Traditionally used by women seeking fertility, these figures were carried, bathed, and cared for in the hope of conceiving a healthy, beautiful child. Even after childbirth, the Akua'ba doll was often kept as a charm for good luck and prosperity.
This piece is finely carved with a warm, aged patina that reflects its vintage character and cultural significance. It makes an excellent addition to any collection of African tribal art, ethnographic objects, or symbolic fertility figures.
