A substantial Art Deco glass storage jar retaining its original brown Bakelite screw-top lid. The jar features a distinctive stepped and faceted geometric form, characteristic of the Art Deco period, making it equally suitable as a practical storage jar or decorative display piece.
The glass base is moulded with "British Regd. Des. No. 786576", together with the maker's mark E.D.D. The inside of the Bakelite lid is moulded "RECOPLAS 1, Great Yarmouth, 27", indicating the lid manufacturer.
A striking and functional example of British Art Deco domestic glassware.
Condition
Good vintage condition.
The glass is free from chips and cracks. There are light surface marks and wear consistent with age and use. The original Bakelite screw lid shows expected age-related wear and remains a good fit.
