A rare vintage tie press (tie clamp), retailed by Hepworths, the well-known British tailoring company, dating to the mid-20th century (c.1930s–50s).
This handsome gentleman’s accessory is made from veneered wood with decorative inlay, fitted with a strong steel clamp mechanism to hold ties neatly in place. The reverse retains the original Hepworths branded badge and a plate stamped with British Patent Number 327104-30, referencing improvements in fastening design of the period.
These tie presses were sold alongside Hepworths suits and haberdashery as part of a gentleman’s dressing room set, helping to keep silk ties crisp and uncreased. Today, they are sought after both as collectible menswear memorabilia and as stylish vintage décor.
