Vintage HES Wall Clock – J. Hardacre and Company Bombay Retail Dial (c.1960s–70s)
Couldn't load pickup availability
A compact mid-20th century wall clock bearing the HES maker’s mark and retailer’s dial signature: “J. Hardacre & Company – Bombay”, with “Made in India” at 6 o’clock.
The clock measures approximately 10cm in diameter and features a cream bezel with a grey cylindrical wall-mount case. The dial is cleanly laid out with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, baton hour markers, and black hands with luminous insets typical of the period.
The rear reveals a mechanical movement stamped HES, with key-wind arbor and adjustment controls visible. The clock currently ticks when wound but has not been tested for long-term timekeeping accuracy.
Retailer-signed dials for Bombay firms add regional interest and suggest distribution through colonial or post-colonial commercial networks. The compact form makes it suitable for kitchen, hallway or study display.
