A distinctive mid-century Italian studio pottery vase attributed to Fratelli Fanciullacci, Florence, produced during the 1960s period for which the firm is best known. The vase displays a tall ovoid form with a heavily textured grey exterior, decorated with vertical incised lines and rhythmic hand-applied enamel dot detailing in alternating blue and rust red, outlined with black linear accents.
The interior is finished in a glossy pink glaze, a colour choice frequently associated with post-war Italian decorative ceramics and one that provides strong contrast to the matte, tactile exterior surface. The overall aesthetic aligns with the abstract, modernist and slightly playful character often described as kitsch within Italian mid-century design.
The base bears a hand-written “ITALY” mark with a numeric notation, consistent with export-period Fratelli Fanciullacci production rather than a factory stamp. While not signed with a full maker’s mark, the form, surface treatment and decorative language closely correspond with documented examples of the firm’s mid-century output.
