A genuine mid-20th-century Jaguar “Leaper” bonnet mascot, cast in chrome-plated alloy and stamped with the official Registered Design number used by Jaguar during the 1950s and 1960s.
This larger-format Leaper, measuring approximately 20cm in length, is one of the earlier post-war castings, displaying the strong musculature, extended pose and characteristic detailing associated with authentic factory-issued mascots of the era.
The underside bears the expected registration marking, confirming it as an original Jaguar component rather than an aftermarket reproduction.
The mascot has been mounted in later years onto a reclaimed timber block for display, with visible alloy deterioration at the mounting point — a common ageing trait in early zinc-alloy fittings. Despite this, the chrome body retains good definition and a pleasing reflective surface, offering strong visual presence and a compelling piece of British motoring history.
