A pair of vintage Poole Pottery stoneware otter figures, each hand-modelled and finished in the typical textured Poole style with incised detailing and naturalistic colouring. Both examples are from the later period of Poole’s decorative animal production, made in England and stamped accordingly.
The taller figure depicts an otter perched on a rocky outcrop with clear modelling to the fur and base. It carries the impressed mark POOLE ENGLAND NM. The smaller figure shows a curled, grooming otter with the impressed mark EM POOLE ENGLAND. Both marks correspond to Poole’s studio animal ranges produced during the 1970s–80s, often made in small batches with individual modeller’s initials.
