A vintage Sadler Staffordshire ceramic teapot from the Shakespeare series, this example illustrating the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. The body is decorated with bright enamel colours framed within the theatrical stage-style borders typical of this line. The base carries the Sadler mark, pattern number 4445, the registered design number 2010603, and an extract from Act II, Scene II.
The lid has the characteristic domed finial with gilt detailing, and the teapot measures approximately 18cm across at its widest point. A good, clean example for collectors of Sadler or literary-themed ceramics.
