Each spoon is marked with L&W, a distinctive winged insect symbol, the letter S, and the Registered Design number RD 740300. These marks are characteristic of early 20th-century continental silverplate made for the British market, using Registered Design protection rather than full British assay hallmarks.
The spoons display an elegant, restrained Art Deco influence, with a gently stepped handle form and raised detailing. Their proportions and clean curves sit comfortably within the decorative sensibilities of the late 1920s to early 1930s.
The fitted case further supports a continental origin: the patterned exterior, plush interior and distinctive laurel-wreath clasp are features widely associated with German and Austrian boxed silverplate of the period. Together, these elements strongly suggest manufacture in Germany or Central Europe, produced for export to the UK.
