This charming vintage green pottery jug by Sylvac (model 1195) features a delightful climbing squirrel forming the handle—an iconic example of British animal ware design.
Made in England, likely in the 1930s–1950s, this Art Deco-era piece is finished in a rich green majolica-style glaze with embossed oak leaf detail around the base and body.
The jug is stamped on the base with the mould number "1195" and "Made in England", both typical of Sylvac’s pottery from the mid-century period.
With its woodland theme, sculptural animal form, and rustic charm, this jug makes a wonderful decorative piece, characterful vase, or a collectable addition to an animal pottery or Sylvac collection.
It displays beautifully and would suit both vintage farmhouse décor and a curated ceramic collection.
🔎 Condition: Excellent vintage condition with fine crazing consistent with age. No chips or cracks. There is some loss of glazing at the base rim (see images) that looks to be a glazing issue rather than damage so caused at manufacture - this is difficult to see when upright and displayed or used
📐 Height: 19 cm (7 inches)
🧾 Markings: "1195" and "Made in England" impressed to base
🎁 Perfect for: Collectors, woodland interiors, or as a quirky bar or vase accent
