A lovely vintage wooden darning mushroom, dating to the early-to-mid 20th century. This traditional sewing tool was used for mending socks and knitwear — the domed top provided a firm surface for darning while protecting fingers from the needle.
This example is turned from solid wood with a smooth, rounded top and a simple lathe-turned handle. It shows attractive signs of use and age, with a naturally worn patina, light surface marks, and scuffs that reflect decades of domestic utility.
Perfect for textile collectors, vintage sewing kits, or rustic display in a craft room or cottage-style interior. A wonderful piece of functional history from the days of make-do-and-mend.
12cm long - 5.5cm diameter head
