Here we have a rather wonderful hand carved depiction of Vishnu, also known as Narayana and Hari, one of the principal deities of Hinduism.
He is the supreme being within Vaishnavism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism.
The piece measures 15cm wide, 35 cm tall and 80cm deep
We have spent some time looking through our books here and this is our best guess at this piece's origin and what it depicts.
It looks very old to us and is showing its age having a few chips and knocks but to us this is what gives this unique piece its charm.
